Deny Membership

Modify this email template or use the default text to notify a member that his/her group membership application has been denied. The default text is maintained using the Edit Email Templates page. Note: You must have group Chair privileges for a group to deny its membership applications.

To deny membership in a group:

  1. From All Groups, click the name of the group containing the pending membership request you want to deny. This takes you to the home page for that group.
  2. Above the Group Notes heading, click pending request(s). This takes you to the Pending Requests page for that group, which contains a list of organization members applying for membership to the group.
  3. Find the requester whose group membership application you want to deny.
  4. Click Deny. This takes you to the Deny Membership page.
  5. For Recipient, verify this is the member whose group membership you want to deny.
  6. For Subject, this is the subject line as it will appear on the email. Use the default text or modify it by entering text (no HTML allowed).
  7. For Content, this is the body text of the email. Use the default text or modify it by entering text.

Note: No HTML is allowed. If you want HTML to appear in the body of the email, you must contact the Group Admin.

  1. When you finish, click Submit Denial to send the email or Cancel to return to the Pending Requests page without denying the selected member's group membership application.

Note: Required fields are designated by an asterisk (*). If you click Submit Denial and a required field is left blank, an error message appears in red above the blank field heading. Enter the required information and click Submit Denial again.

  1. If you click Submit Denial, the member is sent the denial email and you return to the Pending Requests page. Continue approving and/or denying membership requests. To go to another group, use the Breadcrumbs at the top of the page or the Back button on your browser.
